Lesson Learned About Modding Mass Effect 3 Single Player on Xbox 360

Well today turned out to be a valuable lesson. Always ALWAYS keep a backup of the container file that ME3 saves your .xbsav files in as for whatever reason the one I had copied from my xbox hard drive to my usb flash drive ended up being corrupt, no matter how many times I rehashed and resigned. Fortunately I had a backup of an older and known good container file that wasn't corrupt on my windows install (as I dual boot Windows and Linux on my machine) and that worked PERFECTLY to import my modified save so that I could finally meet Kelly Chambers in Mass Effect 3. If you didn't have dinner with Kelly Chambers in Mass Effect 2 you just set boolean value 3817 to true with the Gibbed ME3 Single Player Save Editor

At that point you can then meet her in the holding dock's area on the citadel.
It's bad enough however that Bioware programmed the Mass Effect 1 2 and 3 games so poorly it seems that you occasionally have to deal with corrupt container files that hold your saves but to have to be forced to use Modio version 3 as shown below when the latest Modio is in v5.x? Tried using 5.x btw and that just corrupts the container file for ME3 so quickly, so thank god for Modio v3 below to be able to extra the container file that holds your xbox 360 ME3 saves lol!

I've even heard of people losing saves who don't modify xbox or ps3 or pc saves as it is due to corrupt container files with ME2 and ME3 so it's just sloppy programming in my honest opinion on behalf of Bioware.

Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer - A Geth Juggernaut Tanking Build

Imagine my surprise today when I saw that another website which no longer appears to be updated and is deleting character builds for this game ME3 Multiplayer has made me want to preserve what I found are workable character builds that I absolutely love using.

Today we will cover what I call the "Geth Juggernaut Tank" which can soak up a *LOT* of damage and can provide a support role for the rest of your team by not only using heavy melee (zapping everything in range which is oh so satisfying and never gets old) but also launching a turret at the right time near your teammates, such as when they are low on shields or have no shields all of a sudden, or are just brought back from near death and need a shield boost from your turret.

This same turret can also help you keep your shield's up when it's "crunch" time and you are keeping two banshee's, a brute, and what at times may seem like the rest of the entire reaper kitchen sink of tiny mobs busy wailing away on you while, hopefully, your teammates are also helping to kill the "boss" enemies faster, or if the other teammates are dead it just mean's they will have to wait while you heavy melee and zap and melt everything *grin*.

Kalence Character Builder is the site I use to showcase all my builds and this is the Geth Juggernaut Tank Build to which I will be going into more depth below explaining each element of the build and how best to play this character against the Geth, Reapers, Cerberus, and Collectors.

Hex Shield:

I did not bother putting any point's into this because, more often then not, I've seen it used in random lobby games and it seems to me the majority of the time people will completely ignore the hex shield popped in front of the juggernaut and or teammates to block some of the heavy fire, or worse yet, the team will fire right into the shield and knock it down that much faster.

Siege Pulse:

This is the "bread and butter" of the tank build in that you are storing four siege pulse charges on your right arm, and you pop this right away at the start of a match. When you do you will have 40% reduced damage from all sources. Now keep in mind this comes in quite handy when you are playing at silver difficulty, essential at gold difficulty, and VERY MUCH needed at Platinum difficulty if you want to survive for any length of time while playing a Platinum round.

You can also fire off these pulses in an emergency if you need to such as to help out a teammate about to be "jumped and humped" by a husk, or a fallen teammate about to be stepped on by the enemy and killed for the remainder of the wave, etcetera. But for the most part keep these four pulses on your arm for that damage reduction.

Geth Turret:

The essential helper turret of the juggernaut. I find it helps quite a bit to keep popping this each time at the end of each heavy melee if you are taking on any what I call "boss" character's in a wave, such as an Atlas, Banshee, Brute, Geth Prime, Reaver, Scion, or Praetorian, or even multiples of any boss character's. Because this turret will not only help with damage, it will also help restore 700 shields to you quite often and help keep your shields up, even though the juggernaut already runs at 2300 health and 5000 shields (with Stronghold Package V equipped - more on this later) you can still lose a fair amount of shields in a fairly quick amount of time especially if you are taking on multiple boss characters and holding them to you while the team is helping to finish them off (hopefully) or you have a bunch of little troopers trying to jump, scratch, and beat you up in general and just shrugging it all off while keeping boss(s) busy.

This turret also helps your teammates out as well. Let's say you see them taking on a bunch of troopers and you figure the shields must be low or going down for each of them, pop the turret near them and you'll see the turret restore 700 shields to the person with the lowest, or no, shields, and it's also helpful to pop it near someone who was just revived in a wave, that way you've just given them close to, if not, full, shields and they will thank you for it.

Remember you are a tank and your role is a support character especially when you keep the big guys busy since you can not be killed by the big guys in the most gruesome ways, such as a banshee picking you up and shoving her entire arm out through your back, or a non boss character such as a Cerberus phantom trying to stab you with her sword, neither of them can do that to you, and in effect, the only way you CAN be killed is by destroying all of your shielding and health, period.

Geth Juggernaut:

Not much to say here other then this gives you 27.50% extra weapon damage, 45% extra weapon stability, 30% spare ammo, and 5% extra weapon damage with any geth weapons.

Hardened Platform:

Not much to say here either other then 130% of normal health and shields and 35% extra melee damage and you gain 925 shields per second restored when you aren't being attacked.

Now for the preferred weapons and bonuses!

Weapons:

I prefer the Geth Plasma Shotgun for this build as it has a very long range for a shotgun, has a slight homing ability which is great if like me you aren't the greatest at aiming shotguns, and it can be used at higher weapon levels when fully charged up to take down non shielded enemies in one shot such as husks, cannibals, assault troopers, etcetera. As always this is a preferred shotgun but this build can pretty much be used with any shotgun you prefer but keep in mind you do get that 5% extra damage with the Geth Plasma Shotgun.

Weapon Mods:

Shotgun Spare Thermal Clip V and Shotgun Omni-Blade V which will definitely help out with more ammo so you don't spend nearly as much time walking to ammo boxes around the map and the omni-blade helps out with 50% increased melee damage (both light and heavy). If you don't have the omni-blade right away the Shotgun Blade Attachment will work as well but only at a 25% boost.

Ammo Bonus:

Pretty much anything you like using depending on which enemy you are fighting except Armor-Piercing Rounds (only if you using the Geth Plasma Shotgun).

Weapon Bonus:

Strength Enhancer III for an extra 30% melee damage or Shotgun Rail Amp III which would give you an extra 30% shotgun damage.

Armor Bonus:

I usually prefer Adrenaline Module III for an extra 25% boost in movement speed which helps if you want to keep up somewhat better with your teammates since the Geth Juggernaut can not run like most everyone else. Also Cyclonic Modulator III or IV is good especially in Gold and Platinum games for a 100% and 150% boost in shield strength respectively.

Shield Power Cells III is also a good choice if you want a 30% reduction in the time it takes for your shields to recharge but I would prefer the Cyclonic Modulator because the extra shields may just help keep you up longer to launch a turret to restore shields, or to launch a heavy melee attack and start restoring your own shields a lot quicker then Shield Power Cells III ever could.

Gear Bonus:

I usually prefer Stronghold Package V as it gives you a 20% boost in shields along with a 12% boost in shield regeneration speed which I have found helps when you are going from groups of mobs to start restoring your shields somewhat quicker. Other options if you like to play it more risky and or braver is Juggernaut Shield V which gives you 20% more shields and a 12% boost in Melee Damage, or the Shield Booster V which gives you a 30% boost in shields but no other benefits.

For both Juggernaut Shield V and Shield Booster V I would recommend using those with close friends that you play with often and that you know how they work with you together as a team so that a 12% boost in shield regeneration isn't needed as much because you know they will always be somewhat close by you helping you to take down those big mean nasty Praetorian's or Scion's or Banshee's or any other boss character's you are keeping busy with your heavy melee so they don't kill your teammates.

Whereas on a random game with stranger's I recommend using the Stronghold Package V as the rest of your teammates may end up running halfway across the map leaving you to tank and kill enemies alone by yourself, or they may end up getting themselves killed in which case you can either try going to your fallen teammates if they aren't too far away and taking advantage of walls and corners to regenerate your shields quicker, and popping turrets along the way to keep shields up and enemies behind you distracted.

Or you can let them watch you in spectator mode take everything down and hopefully not end up in a crunch situation such as two praetorians whacking away at you with those claws and then a scion or two rounding the corner to join in on the fun.

I believe that's all I have for this build and as always if you have any questions or comments please feel free to reply.

Mass Effect 3 Single Player All Over Again!

Back in October of last year I bought the Mass Effect Trilogy for my Xbox 360 which to this day I still consider one of the best purchases I ever made considering it comes with all three games in the series and a beautiful fold out box to hold all the game discs. It's especially handy for playing Mass Effect 3 Single Player as well as the excellent multiplayer. But, i'll get into multiplayer in another post some day.

I had started Jaina Shepard for Mass Effect 3 single player, a female adept as you can see below. I do apoligize for the quality of the pics as it's just a quick snap with my LG cell phone.

As you can see I gave her purple hair and dark blue eyes and named her Jaina Shepard which I felt was unique to say the least if I was going to play a female character. As female shepard is voiced by Jennifer Hale who has done voice work in several games I felt I had to play through at least once and hear her voice acting.

But now I've decided to play a male shepard character by the name of Samuel Shepard. I've tried to make him look as close as possible to Samuel Jackson but with a moustache. Male shepard is also voiced by Mark Meer whom has been the male shepard voice since day one in the series.

I felt this time around if i'm playing through single player again it'll be a male character and I can hear Mark Meer's work this time in Mass Effect 3 even though a lot of fans have complained a *LOT* about the endings in this game and the fact that Mass Effect 4 will not have Commander Shepard in the game as the main character anymore. Which to me is alright, I mean what's worse, a series that goes away from the main character after three games, or a series where we could be at, say, Mass Effect 6 years from now and *STILL* have Commander Shepard in it?

At any rate it feel's kind of weird playing through single player again especially since it's now on a new tv, a nice sized 30" inch RCA LED tv which IMHO look's a hell of a lot better then the old 22" inch Vizio LCD tv I had when I played single player with Jaina Shepard. That, and I've still yet to get the other two expansion's for this game besides Citadel, which are Omega and Leviathan.

As always feel free to comment if you like and i've left the identity codes showing for both shepards if you decide you want to try them yourself on the Xbox 360 or the PS3, Wii U, or PC version's of this game.

Day One

Well, here it is. Day one on my first blog post! I wanted to start off with and mention for anyone who might be wondering where my "unusual" avatar came from - it came from an old picture I came across year's ago on the internet and which I was pleasantly surprised was actually found via Tineye.

A picture of Quark from Star Trek Deep Space Nine looking like he's either getting extremely happy (or stoned) on a drink. And what with all the steam around him he look's really happy. This picture has always made me smile and still does to this day especially when you watch the show and see what Quark has been through.

For now that's about all I can think of to say for my first post but this blog will be my sounding board and a place for me to post opinions on tech, games, and non tech things on occasion happening in real life and I hope for those of you reading that you enjoy my posts and as always feel free to comment if you like.
